05/06/2015 - The town has published a pro forma summary of proposed expenditures, revenues and amounts to be raised by taxes associated with the 2015-16 budget. A public hearing on the proposals will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at Town Hall.
04/30/2015 - The Town Council will hold a public hearing on combined town, county, Community Services and school budget, as amended, on May 11, 2015. Meeting as the Finance Committee April 27, councilors voted 5-1 to recommend a $110,539 reduction in the amount to be raised by taxes for the $23.6 million school budget proposal. The School Board will meet to determine that reduction in a workshop at 7 p.m. Monday, May 4, in the High School Library. The meeting will be videotaped. The town has not yet published a pro forma of proposed expenditures, revenues and tax rates, pending the School Board's deliberations.
04/15/2015 - The School Board on April 14, 2015 approved a $23.6 million school budget for 2015-16. The proposal, subject to approval by the Town Council and a townwide vote, poses a 7-cent increase in the overall tax rate of $12.19 for school services. The School Board will present the budget to the Town Council's finance committee on Monday, April 27, 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
03/30/2015 - The Town Council Finance Committee has scheduled review of the Community Services budget separate from review of the school budget, due to the Community Services director being unavailable on the evening of April 27, the date scheduled for school budget review. The Community Services budget review will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in the Town Hall chamber.
02/26/2015 - Superintendent Meredith Nadeau is proposing a $23.8 million school budget for 2015-15, up 2.6 percent over this year, with a proposed tax-rate increase of 12 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation. [news article]
02/25/2015 - School Superintendent Meredith Nadeau will be presenting her recommended 2015-16 school budget at a School Board workshop tonight, Feb. 25, 2015. The total tax rate increase from all the proposed budgets, as of this date, would be 48 cents per thousand or 2.9%. This pro forma is a summary of all of the proposed general fund budgets.
