Work begins on update to comprehensive plan

Work has begun on a new comprehensive plan, a state-mandated document that will guide development in the town for the next decade.

A seven-member committee charged with updating the 2007 plan met for the first time on Jan. 11, 2017. Tim Thompson was elected chair and Elizabeth Goodspeed vice chair.

The first topic of discussion was public participation in the planning process. "All committee members expressed the desire for active engagement of a broad swath of Cape Elizabeth residents," said Goodspeed, in a press release.

Everyone is encouraged to attend Comprehensive Plan 2019 Committee meetings, scheduled for 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at Town Hall. The next meeting will be Feb. 8. All minutes and materials are posted here on the website.
