Alternative Energy, Spurwink School committees get more time

Two ad hoc citizen committees - the Alternative Energy Committee 2016 and the Spurwink School Committee - will have more time to submit their findings to the Town Council.

The council on Nov. 14, 2016 granted extensions to both committees. The Alternative Energy Committee 2016 will have until Jan. 31, 2017 to submit its report; and the Spurwink School Committee until Dec. 31, 2016.

Both expect to have reports completed before the deadlines, said Town Manager Michael McGovern.

The Alternative Energy Committee 2016 is charged with exploring opportunities to provide alternative energy to municipal and school buildings and vehicles. The Spurwink School Committee is charged with with reviewing reuse proposals for the former Thomas Memorial Library (Spurwink School).

Molly MacAuslan, Town Council chair, congratulated both committees on their work, and the councilors involved with each committee. "I'm really pleased that they are taking the extra time, I think we'll end up with something really important coming back," she said.
