The Town has announced the beginning of construction of the Shore Road Path project.

Construction on the 2.2-mile path along Shore Road is scheduled to begin the week of June 18, 2012, and should take between 90 and 120 days to complete. Cape Elizabeth contractor L.P. Murray & Sons submitted the lowest bid of nine opened on May 24, 2012.

"During several phases of the project, traffic will be slightly delayed, or reduced to one lane," said Public Works Director Robert Malley, in a letter to neighboring residents dated June 8. He asked neighbors, residents and all who use Shore Road to be patient while construction is underway.

Murray and Sons has successfully completed a number of Cape Elizabeth municipal projects over many years, Malley said. The firm's office is along pathway site, which will run from the entrance to Fort Williams to Key Bank in the Town center.

Malley provided the following contract information and invited residents to call with any questions regarding the project:

The Town will utilize AMEC Engineering as construction engineers and will seek their advice on any technical question.
