Stormwater Management Plan Changes Open for Public Comment

The Public Works Department is responsible for implementing a Stormwater Management Plan required by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection to protect stormwater from pollution.  Changes to the Plan must be made available to the Public for a 30-day comment by posting on the Town’s website.  The most recent changes are available in red-line/strikethrough format in the Master Plans section and are linked here.

The changes being made are related to a proposed project to protect Trout Brook from stormwater pollution.  The Town was required to evaluate several projects and select one to protect Trout Brook.  The proposed project will consist of installation of stormwater treatment systems along Route 77 where the Brook crosses the road.  The original Stormwater Management Plan required that a final design for the project be prepared this fiscal year (by 6/30/2024).  The proposed change is to conduct a survey this fiscal year to confirm existing rights-of-way, prepare a conceptual design and obtain any approvals or additional rights-of-way needed for the project in advance of the final design.

The final design is proposed to be completed by 6/30/2025.  Comments on the change can be sent to Jay.Reynolds@capeelizabeth.org or krabasca@integratedenv.com by August 17, 2023.
