Cape Elizabeth voters today elected Patricia Brigham and Rebecca Millett to the School Board.
Brigham was the overall winner with 408 votes, followed by Millett, with 334. A third candidate, Mary Hine Michals, received 228 votes, but it was not enough to win one of the two seats up for election.
Former School Board member Richard West, who resigned from the board last month, received several write-in votes for School Board, said Town Clerk Deborah Cabana. Out of 53 write-ins, 17 were for "Richard West," 11 for "Richard L. West," and 2 for "Dr. West," Cabana said.
Brigham and Millett will replace Marie Prager and Jennifer DeSena, whose terms expire at the end of the month. Neither ran for re-election.
Also re-elected to new terms on the Town Council were Mary Ann Lynch, current chairman, and John McGinty.
Turnout was 572, or 7.2 percent.
In a related matter, Cabana reported two potential candidates in a special election for School Board June 8. Henry Adams and Susan Steinman have both taken out nominating petitions for the election to fill the unexpired term of Richard West. Deadline for returning nominating petitions is 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 5.
