Cape Elizabeth voters elected two members to the Town Council and two the School Board Nov. 8. In the uncontested race for School Board, Kathy Ray was re-elected to a full term, and newcomer Linda Winker was also elected to the board.

In the controversial state referendum question 1, Cape Elizabeth voters overwhelmingly said "No" to the proposed repeal of the state's Gay Rights legislation, 2,880 to 1,160.

Turnout was 4,071 state ballots, 4,057 municipal ballots, with just over 1,000 of them voted absentee. The total number of registered voters in town was not available Tuesday evening pending tally of new registrations, said Town Clerk Deborah Cabana. "We registered a lot of people," Cabana said.
