Jordan wins Town Council seat

Penny Jordan emerged the winner in a special election Jan. 27 to fill an unexpired term on the Town Council.

Unofficial results Tuesday evening showed Jordan the winner over Jim Walsh, 569 votes to 400. (results officiated 01/28/09). Councilor Jordan was administered the oath of office at Town Hall the afternoon of Jan. 28, 2009.

In another special election Jan. 27, Cape Elizabeth resident Mark Duval received 792 Cape Elizabeth votes in his bid to fill an unexpired term on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees.

Turnout for the special election was 12 percent.

Jordan's election will fill an unexpired term on the Town Council, previously held by Mary Ann Lynch, until Dec. 13, 2010.

The unexpired term on the Portland Water District Board of Trustees runs until Nov. 3, 2009.  Cape Elizabeth shares this trustee seat with South Portland citizens, who also voted on Jan. 27.
