Frank Governali, one-year Town Council veteran, and newcomer Caitlin Jordan will serve three-year terms on the Town Council as a result of Tuesday's municipal election.
Unofficial results, announced Nov. 3 by Town Clerk Debra Lane, show Governali getting the majority of votes - 2,515 - in the four-way race for two seats on the council. Jordan received 2,226 votes, followed by unsuccessful challengers Jamie Wagner, 2,061 votes; and John McGinty, 1,749 votes.
In the School Board election, Kim Monaghan-Derrig, the only name to appear on the Nov. 2, 2010 ballot, was elected to a three-year term, with 4,007 votes. Michael Moore received 902 votes for School Board as a write-in, and will also serve a three-year term. Fred Sturtevant, who also sought one of two open seats on the board, received 180 votes as a write-in.
Because of the large number of write-in votes, the municipal ballots were tallied the morning after the election.
Lane estimated a 70 percent turnout for the Nov. 2 election, with 1,987 of those votes cast as absentees.
