Cape Elizabeth voters approved the $24.9 million school budget adopted by the Town Council on May 15, 2017 in the school budget validation referendum June 13.

The vote was 631 yes, 487 no. Answering a related, non-binding question, most (542) said they believed the school budget was too high, while 400 said they believed it was acceptable and 157 said it was too low.

All results are unofficial as of 8:45 p.m. June 13.

Cape voters June 13 also said they approved of a $50 million state bond for economic development; and, 896 voted for South Portland resident Matthew D. Beck, the sole candidate for Cape Elizabeth/South Portland's representative on the Portland Water District's Board of Trustees.

Voter turnout was approximately 13 percent, with 1,125 ballots cast.
