Reminder: Sale and use of fireworks illegal in Cape Elizabeth

Cape Elizabeth police would like to remind residents that the use and sale of fireworks is illegal in Cape Elizabeth.

In November 2011 the Town Council adopted an amendment to the miscellaneous offenses ordinance outlawing consumer fireworks within the town, except those with a state or town-issued fireworks display permit.

The amendment was a response to the state's recent move to allow the sale of consumer fireworks in Maine. It mirrors other Maine communities that have opted to continue to ban consumer fireworks locally.
