Item# 134-2009 Fire Alarm Cable
A number of emergency repairs have recently been made to the fire alarm cable extending from the Cape Cottage fire station to the Public Safety Building in order to keep the fire alarm system operational. In two sections of the cable there have been at least eight splices due to trees falling down and accidents. The areas are between Delano Park and Fort Williams Park and between Becky’s Cove Road and Smuggler’s Cove Road. The cost to replace the spliced cables with new fire alarm conductor cable is estimated at $20,000. We have one estimate and are still obtaining estimates. It is proposed that the Town Council allocate $20,000 from the 2008 municipal bond investment proceeds to restore this fire alarm cable and to reduce service calls.
Item# 135-2009 Request for Abatement of Local Property tax
A property owner has asked for an abatement of property taxes by reason of infirmity or poverty. Pursuant to 36 MRSA §841 2.G applications are confidential and hearings and reviews on any such requests are held in executive session. The decision is made in public but without disclosing the identity of the applicant.
