Students to host two 'Candidates Nights' before November election

Students from Cape Elizabeth High School's advanced-placement government class will host two candidates nights prior to the 2016 election on Thursdays, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. CETV Channel 3 will broadcast both events live from 7-9 p.m. at Town Hall.

Candidates night for municipal office will be held Oct. 20. At 7 p.m., candidates for two School Board seats, Susanna Measelle Hubbs and Kimberly Carr, will take questions. At approximately 8 p.m., three candidates for two seats on the Town Council: Caitlin Jordan, Shannon Auritt and Penny Jordan, will answer questions.

A week later, on Oct. 27, students will host candidates for state Legislature. State House District 30 candidates Kim Monaghan and George Van Syckel will answer questions beginning at 7 p.m. State Senate District 29 candidates Rebecca Millett and Martha "Molly" MacAuslan will answer questions from 8-9 p.m.

Questions are being prepared by the government students, but the public is also encouraged to submit questions. Citizens will receive an index card to jot down questions at the door when they arrive at Town Hall. CETV viewers will also be able to call in questions at 207-767-2273 Ext. 255 during the live broadcasts.

See the CETV program schedule for rebroadcast times and dates.
