Committee eyes open-space management proposals for possible inclusion in code of ordinances

The Town Council's ordinance subcommittee will review proposals in the recently completed Open Space Management Plan for possible inclusion in the Town's code of ordinances.

At their Dec. 12, 2011 meeting, the council voted unanimously to refer the draft Open Space Management Plan to the subcommittee.

The final draft of the management plan, submitted by a committee composed of the Conservation Commission and Town Councilor Jessica Sullivan, was accepted by the council in November, and was a topic of discussion at the council's Dec. 5 workshop.

The ad hoc Open Space and Greenbelt Management Plan committee was charged in April 2010 to conduct a comprehensive inventory of the 923 acres of Town-owned open space and to draft suggested policies for their use.
