Answers will help the commission update the 2003 master plan for the park. The master plan is a guide for short- and long-term management and maintenance of the park. It identifies goals and objectives for maintaining park features, and identifies needed improvements.

The questionnaire is one way the commission is using to identify:

  • User groups
  • Passive and active recreation needs
  • Perceived and real safety issues
  • Opportunities for expanded use,
  • Economic opportunities to help defray the cost of maintaining the park,
  • and, user comments.

Commissioners have also set aside part of their June 16, 2011 meeting, to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Public Works, specifically for interested parties to discuss the master plan update. [see news article]. They also anticipate a public hearing in the fall when a draft master plan update is completed.

Questionnaire responses will be kept confidential, and will be tabulated with those of other respondents to form aggregate opinions.

Responses will be accepted online until 11 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011. Paper copies of the questionnaire are also available at Town Hall and at the Thomas Memorial Library.

Mitchell and Associates , landscape architects, are assisting the commission with the master plan update.

The Town's Comprehensive Plan recommends a Fort Williams Master Plan update every seven years.
