Members named to town's Health Insurance Review Committee


Jim Rowe, chairman of the Town Council, has announced members appointed to the ad hoc Cape Elizabeth Employee Health Insurance Review Committee.

The five members of the public who will serve on the committee are Al Barthelman, David Hillman, Kyle Parrish, Beth Richardson and Jim Walsh.

Town Councilor Penny Jordan and School Board member Mary Townsend will also serve on the committee, which is charged to review the health-care coverage and benefits offered to municipal and school employees.

The committee will prepare recommendations for opportunities for changes in coverages provided to employees, in providers of coverage, and for employee/employer cost shares.The committee report will include an analysis of how any recommendations may influence the ability of the local government/school department to recruit and retain quality employees.

The committee will meet for up to six months and its report will be submitted jointly to the Cape Elizabeth School Board and the Cape Elizabeth Town Council.

Matthew Sturgis, town assessor, and Pauline Aportria, school business manager, will staff the committee. Its first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, in the William H. Jordan Conference Room at Town Hall.

The first meeting will be organizational, Sturgis said. He anticipates a preliminary report by mid-December.
