Alan H. Hawkins elected new
superintendent of schools
The Cape Elizabeth School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Alan
H. Hawkins as their next Superintendent of Schools.
Following a two-month process including advertising the position, paper
screening, three rounds of interviews, reference checks, etc., the Board
reached a consensus on their selection. Hawkins was unanimously elected by
the Board at a Special School Board meeting March 22.
Hawkins is a resident of South Portland, who spent 30 years in that community
as a teacher and principal. Most recently he has served as the
superintendent of schools for Wiscasset, a position he has held for the last
three years.
The School Board believes that Hawkins is the right person for the job and
looks forward to his leadership of the Cape Elizabeth Schools in the years
ahead. He brings with him strong interpersonal and communication skills and
a true desire to help Cape Elizabeth in its desire to be one of the top public
school systems in the United States.
The School Board also expresses its thanks for the input of many staff and
townspeople in this process.
Hawkins will begin his new role on July 1, 2005. |
