Firearms

Gun registration is NOT required in the State of Maine. There are, however, strict laws that prohibit the concealment of firearms.

Residents who choose to carry a firearm or who routinely transport a firearm for recreational or self-defense purposes should apply for a concealed firearms permit at the public safety building between 8 am and 4 pm seven days a week.

The discharge of firearms is PROHIBITED in all areas of the Cape except the Spurwink Rod and Gun Club, the tidal marshes that border Scarborough, on the Great Pond proper, and below the tidal high water mark along the coast.
