School Board Members

Under Maine's Freedom of Access Act any form of communication with a public official(s) or staff member(s) of the Town is considered a public record; As such, any member of the public has the privilege to request any and all emails, letters, or written communication by contacting the Office of the Town Clerk.

Philip Saucier - CHAIR

Phil Saucier grew up in northern Maine and has lived in the greater Portland area for more than eighteen years, having moved to Cape Elizabeth in 2017. He and his wife Kate have two children - Louis is a first grader at Pond Cove and Ava will be in kindergarten next fall. Phil works as a municipal and land use lawyer. He strongly believes in public service and is honored to serve on the School Board.  Phil is serving his second term on the School Board.


Christopher H. Boniakowski
17 Stone Bridge Road
Term Expires 12/2027


Chris lives in Cape Elizabeth with his wife, Anna, and two children, Jackson and Ellie, both of whom attend Cape Elizabeth Schools. He believes access to high quality public education is foundational to our society and is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the School Board. He is a community volunteer and has spent his professional career designing and building digital infrastructure.



Peter Joy S. Engel
43 Cranbrook Drive
Term Expires 12/2027

Joy is a communications and fundraising professional and community builder. She strongly believes in public service and is grateful to serve her community on the school board. 

Joy and her husband have two young children, a preschooler and a second grader. They moved to Cape Elizabeth in 2018. Joy’s parents moved to Cape Elizabeth when she was in high school. She feels incredibly fortunate to have multiple generations of her family living in such a special place.



Jennifer L. McVeigh
7 Brentwood
Term Expires 12/2026


Jennifer has lived in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and two children since 2013. She is a school psychologist with 10+ years experience at the K-12 level. She is committed to excellence in public education ensuring students are given the education, support and services necessary to be successful post-secondary. She strongly believes in mental health supports and social emotional learning for all students. Jennifer is excited to serve her first term on the Cape Elizabeth School Board and learn from fellow senior members.



Lee B. Schroeder
13 Overlook Lane
Term Expires 12/2027


Lee Schroeder lives in Cape Elizabeth with her wife, Dr. Julia Tortolani, and their two sons, Oliver and Tucker, who are in middle school.   As a family, they love what Cape Elizabeth and Maine has to offer in outdoor activities, including fishing, hiking, going to the beach, and skiing (at Saddleback!).  Lee retired in summer 2023 after more than 25 years as an executive in the cable and broadband industry where she led the government and community affairs department for a broadband company.    She believes in public service and the importance of every child having access to a high quality public education.   Lee is excited and honored to have the privilege of serving on the Cape Elizabeth School Board.



Caitlin S. Sweet
13 Overlook Lane

Caitlin Sweet grew up in Maryland near Washington, D.C. and has lived in the greater Portland area for five years, having moved to Cape Elizabeth in 2019.  She and her husband Brandon have three children -- Sullivan is in kindergarten, Juliette is a first grader at Pond Cove Elementary School, and three year old Wendy is at preschool at the Cape Community Center.  Caitlin works as a communication strategist.  She strongly believes in being an active part of her community and in public service and is honored to serve on the School Board.  Caitlin is serving her first term as a School Board member.



Cynthia R. Voltz - VICE CHAIR

Cindy Voltz has been a Cape Elizabeth resident and an active volunteer in our schools and community since 2011.  She is the parent of a 2019 Cape Elizabeth High School graduate and a CEHS Freshman.  Cindy’s professional background includes over 20 years of experience working in technology.  She currently works as a Technology Risk Manager in the banking industry.  She is grateful for the opportunity to serve our community as a member of the board.
