ECOLOGY OF THE NORTHERN WOODS - A CLOSER LOOK AT MAINE WITH CHRIS LEWEY:  THURSDAY, JANUARY 9 / 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Join the Thomas Memorial Library for an ecological journey through the seasons of Northern New England, beginning on the breathtaking coast of Maine. This seashore, stretching over 3,500 miles, boasts thousands of inlets, bays, and peninsulas, as well as over 2,000 islands—the densest concentration in the world. Our adventure will take us through various habitats of the state including rocky shores, sandy beaches, marshlands, islands, and dense forests. We'll take a closer look at some of the wildlife that calls New England home and marvel at the region's spectacular fall colors.

Discover the survival strategies that birds, mammals, and plants adopt to withstand New England's dramatic seasonal changes. We'll examine how these organisms are shaped by the northern environment. Maine's stunning landscapes serve as the backdrop for this captivating ecological study of Northern New England. No registration necessary!
