Cape Elizabeth equipment operators Todd Hubbard, left, and Jason Emery will go on to state competition as winners third-place winners of the 2017 Cumberland County Snow Plow Rodeo, hosted by Portland Public Works May 17.

Public Works Equipment Operators Jason Emery and Todd Hubbard will join two teams from Cumberland County to compete in the State of Maine Snow Plow Rodeo Championship in Skowhegan on June 1, 2017.

Emery and Hubbard placed third in a field of 22 teams at the annual competition, sometimes known as a "roadeo," held at the Portland Public Works Facility on Canco Road on Wednesday, May 17.

Rodeo officials believe Hubbard may have recorded the lowest number of penalty points in the history of the competition, which has taken place each year since 1993, said Cape Elizabeth Public Works Director Robert Malley.

Operators Thomas Perkins and Jon Talbot also represented Cape Elizabeth at the competition.
