Community Services took delivery of a 14-passenger minibus on April 10, 2017. The minibus will be used for transportation to senior activities, eliminating the need for seniors to ride school buses.
The vehicle will have its premier outing on April 26 when seniors will travel to Windham for lunch and a performance by the Windham Center Stage Theater, said Kathy Raftice, coordinator of adult programming.
The Town Council approved funding for the minibus at the end of last year [news article]. Now, Cape Elizabeth joins many of its surrounding communities in offering dedicated transportation for senior citizens.
O'Connor Bus Sales of Augusta submitted the winning bid for the bus at $57,000 -- $8,000 less than the approved expenditure.
